The idea of hair refers to all the profuse hair that grows on the body. The concept is usually used with reference to thick and copious hair .
That is a term, the one that concerns us now, that must be established as having its etymological origin in Latin. Specifically, it derives from the noun “pilus”, which can be translated as “hair”, to which the suffix “-ambre” has been added, which is used as a synonym for “collection” or “abundance”.
For example: “When he heard the doorbell, the boy got up, fixed his hair as best he could and went quickly to the door to meet his beloved again,” “According to the police, the victim can only remember the reddish hair of the aggressor.” ” , “When I was young I had abundant hair, but from the age of 30 I started to lose my hair…” .
It should be remembered that hair is made of keratin and has a root and a stem . In the case of humans, the root is located in the hair follicle of the dermis and its stem grows upward, protruding. Hair is present on a large part of the body surface, although the hair is concentrated mainly on the head.
The concept of pelambre is also used to name a mixture of lime and water that is used to peel the skins . In this framework, the process that consists of introducing the leather into a pond - known as noque - with hair so that it loses its hair is called re-hairing .
Another use of pelambre refers to leather that is superheated. The hair, therefore, are those skins already subjected to the aforementioned action so that their hair is shed.
It should also be noted that Pelambre is the name of one of the most important characters in the television series “Without breasts there is paradise”, which aired in Colombia between 2016 and 2018 and which is the adaptation of a novel (“Without breasts yes there is paradise”) by Gustavo Bolívar. That character, specifically, was played by the Colombian actor Omar Murillo (1981), who is also a renowned model and comedian.
