Panorama

Lookout

The wide landscape that can be seen from a viewpoint is known as a panorama.

A panorama is a large landscape that can be seen from a viewing platform or other observation point. For example: “From here you can get a great view of the lake and mountains” , “This hotel offers me a unique view of the beach” .

A panorama is also a view painted on a large hollow cylinder , which has a circular, isolated platform for spectators in the centre. This platform is covered so that the light from above is invisible.

Overview as a general aspect

On the other hand, the general aspect of an issue is known as outlook: "The current political outlook is bleak," "The business outlook is not encouraging."

In this sense, the panorama implies a review or analysis of the whole situation . The concept is associated with a broad vision, which transcends specific or concrete aspects. Speaking of political panorama refers to the situation of several parties and personalities, not of a single political party or a single leader.

Analysis

The overview is the general aspect of an issue, which arises from an analysis or review of various data.

The term in the theatre

In the theatre environment, a panorama is a flat surface canvas that, thanks to its uniform colour or different shades of paint, represents the natural sky or offers a feeling of environmental spaciousness.

The panorama, in this frame, is located at the back of the scene and is usually illuminated in such a way as to achieve the desired effect.

Panorama as a town name

Likewise, we cannot overlook the fact that several towns around the world respond to the name Panorama . Thus, for example, one of them is located in Brazil , specifically in Sao Paulo . It is a place that has a population of around 13,500 inhabitants and is characterized by being bathed by the Paraná River .

In Greece , more precisely in Thessaloniki , there is also a suburb called Panorama . About 20,000 people live there, and it is located at the foot of Mount Hortiatis .

American Towers

In addition to all of the above, we must also highlight the fact that in the field of architecture there are several buildings throughout the world that are named after the term we are analyzing. A clear example of this is the Panorama Towers , located in the American city of Las Vegas .

These buildings are currently made up of three towers, although a fourth Panorama Tower is in the works. The first and second of these are both 128 metres tall, while the third tower is taller at 147 metres. This last tower has been renamed The Martin .

Other uses of the notion of panorama

All this without forgetting that one of the most important films starring agent 007 , James Bond , also has the word in its title. We are referring to the film "A View to a Kill" , which was released in 1985 and stars Roger Moore .

Finally, «Panorama» was the second most widely circulated newspaper in Venezuela . It was published in the city of Maracaibo (state of Zulia ) and was created in 1914 by Abraham and David Belloso Rossell , in association with Ramón Villasmil .
