What is a theatrical work
A play , then, is a production that consists of the presentation of a story through a theater performance . The work can combine speeches, gestures, music , dance and other forms of artistic expression. For example: "Last night we went to see a play starring Lita Bartoli" , "The play written by the Hungarian playwright generated a great stir when it was released in 1928" , "The actress stated that this year she will not work on television since "He plans to dedicate himself to a new theatrical work."
There are many genres within what would be dramaturgy. Thus, we find restraint, the musical, the drama, the melodrama, the sainete or the farce. All this without forgetting that, when we talk about musical theater works, these in turn can be divided into operas, zarzuelas, cabaret, operettas...
There are many authors who, throughout History, have written theatrical works. However, not all of them have achieved the success, renown and good reviews of playwrights of the stature of William Shakespeare, Federico García Lorca, Antón Chekhov, Jean-Baptiste Molierte, Lope de Vega, Tennesee Williams, Samuel Beckett, Antonio Buero Vallejo , Miguel de Cervantes or Christopher Marlowe.
Main elements
The theatrical work includes various elements. Acting is the process that a performer carries out to put themselves in the shoes of their character. The text , on the other hand, is the speech or script that the interpreter must follow to narrate the story.
Direction is the task carried out by another artist (the director) and which consists of guiding the performers, defining the text and controlling, ultimately, all the details linked to the theatrical work.
Other aspects that are part of a theatrical work are the costumes (the clothes used by the actors on stage), the makeup (which contributes to the characterization) and the scenery (the set).
