The word level is used to describe the horizontality of a certain thing. For example, a level can be recognized as the height at which something reaches or at which it has been located . Other meanings that, according to the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE) , are associated with the idea of level are the one that defines this word as the measure of a quantity in relation to a specific scale ( "blood sugar level" ); the one that presents it as a synonym for category, ranking or rank ( "he is a player of excellent level" ); the one that admits it as the name given to the instrument that allows to discover the difference or equality of height that can exist between two points ; the one that speaks of level as the similarity or likeness in any line or species ; and the one that presents it as the degree or height that is achieved in certain issues of the social sphere ( "he is a person of good cultural level" ).
The level as a measurement tool or resource
It is worth noting that a level is also a measuring tool that is useful for checking the horizontality or verticality of any piece. Nowadays there are different types of levels that are frequently used by surveyors, bricklayers, carpenters and blacksmiths, among other workers.
Furthermore, we cannot overlook the fact that the concept we are dealing with is also frequently used in the field of education. Thus, we often speak of educational levels to refer to the various specialties (doctorates, degrees, baccalaureates, etc.) that exist within the system and that determine the educational position in which a person finds themselves in relation to others.

In video games , a level is a specific area within the virtual world, where players must overcome different challenges or meet certain objectives until they complete it and move on to the next area.
In this sense, we can establish that the expression "level up" has already been created and is used with complete normality by those who are fans of this type of entertainment. What is expressed with it is precisely what was previously mentioned: that the player in question has managed to complete the missions that were assigned to him and, for this reason, he manages to continue playing in the adventure of the video game in question.
Quality of life
Similarly, in this definition we cannot ignore the reference to what is called standard of living . This expression is used to reflect, either on an individual basis or on a general level in a country, the degree of material well-being that one has.
