Doll

Hand

Many people wear a watch on their wrist.

Doll is a concept that has two great uses. On the one hand, it refers to the region of a person's body in which the arm is linked to the hand. On the other hand, a toy that imitates the appearance of a woman is known as a doll.

Before moving forward, it is important to mention that the term has pre-Roman origins and is related to the Basque word muno , which can be translated as "hill" .

The wrist in anatomy

For anatomy, the wrist is a set of joints found in the upper limbs of the human being . Thanks to these joints, the person can perform various hand movements. For example: "When he fell, the soccer player fractured his wrist," "Many tennis players use a bandage to protect their wrist," "That bracelet is too big for my wrist."

The wrist is fundamentally made up of eight bones, which are called carpals, as well as the tendons, the ligament, the nerve and the carpal tunnel.

There are various diseases that can cause greater or lesser damage to the wrist. Among the most common are arthritis , tendonitis , osteoporosis and what is known as carpal tunnel syndrome .

Toy

A doll is a toy that girls often use.

a toy

As a toy, the doll is usually intended for the entertainment of girls . Dolls can be made with all types of materials, from plastic to wood, ceramics and paper: "My mother gave me a giant doll," "When I was a girl, I was fascinated by dolls," "There are people who decorate their houses with those." "Russian dolls that are kept inside each other."

The origin of dolls is very ancient. At first, they were manufactured by hand, although, with technological advances, dolls began to be produced in series. Among the most famous dolls in the world are Barbie , produced by Mattel , whose first models appeared in 1959 .

Within the set of this type of toys, we have to explain that the so-called dolls or reborn dolls have acquired special fame. These are identified not only because they have a very real baby appearance but also because, in the same way, their touch is. Without forgetting that they can also carry out activities of a newborn such as crying, urinating or breathing.

These dolls, which are made by hand and have become toys for adults, have a high price. Thus, there are even women who "use" them to make up for the absence of a child in their lives.

Other uses of the notion of doll

Colloquially, we have to add that the term we are analyzing is used as an affectionate nickname within a couple. Thus, for example, in various films we can observe how the male protagonist addresses his female partner in a loving manner, calling her "doll."

It should be noted, finally, that in some Latin American countries the phrase "have a wrist" is used to refer to the capacity and ductility of a person to achieve a goal : "The governor has demonstrated that he has a wrist to accommodate himself in a changing political landscape." "If you have a wrist, you will be able to grow very quickly within this company."
