Millennium

MillenniumA millennium is a time period of one thousand years . It is, therefore, a period of ten centuries , equivalent to one hundred decades .

For example: "It is estimated that the utensils found at the foot of the volcano are two millennia old," "These lands have belonged to our people for millennia: we will not tolerate them taking our home away from us," "The mummy would have been buried." in the place a millennium ago .

It is common for millennia to be taken as considering the Christian era . Year 1 of the Gregorian calendar (which does not have year 0 ), in this framework, marks the beginning of this era .

The first millennium , thus, goes from year 1 to 1000 ; the second millennium , from 1001 to 2000 . This means that we are currently going through the third millennium of the Christian era.

If someone alludes to what will happen in the fourth millennium , well, they will be referring to events that would happen between the years 3001 and 4000 of the Gregorian calendar.

«Milenio Diario» , on the other hand, is a Mexican newspaper. It was founded in Monterrey in 1974 with the name "Diario de Monterrey" and began publishing in 2000 in Mexico City . This newspaper is part of a group that includes a television channel ( Milenio Televisión ) and a radio station ( Milenio Radio ).

Finally, the group of people who were born between the beginning of the 1980s and the beginning of the 2000s is known as the Millennium Generation or Generation Y. These individuals are referred to as millennials and, from the field of marketing and sociology, certain behavioral characteristics are attributed to them.

On Spanish television there is a program titled Cuarto Milenio , under the direction and presentation of Iker Jiménez and Carmen Porter . It belongs to the investigative journalism genre and its first broadcast took place on November 16, 2005.

In Cuarto Milenio all topics associated with mystery and the unknown are discussed, such as occultism, conspiracies, criminology, ufology, astronomy, parapsychology, archeology and demonology, among many others. In each program, its hosts receive various specialists who help them debate these topics, contributing their specific knowledge to enrich the conversation and provide viewers with various points of view so they can draw their own conclusions.

MillenniumGiven the nature of the cases presented in the program, many people doubt their legitimacy or outright deny it. On the other hand, there are those who accept its content as an interesting complement to the news about the "material world."

The Millennial Generation is a very relevant topic of conversation in the media, largely because the concept of the millennium itself generates a deep fascination for us . The reason for this is that no human being could see two millennium changes in their lifetime , and in fact, most do not even experience one.

It is important to highlight the arbitrary nature, so to speak, of the measurement of time that people carry out. Although the position of the sun, the passage from day to night, the characteristics of the seasons and other phenomena taken as a reference point are undeniable from a scientific point of view, nature has not given us the names of the days. and the months nor its exact duration, if it had any, so all this arose from the observation of our ancestors.

This gives a very particular character to a concept like the millennium , as well as the century , because if we met beings from other planets perhaps we would discover that they do not use them, while for us they are part of fundamental knowledge.
