Millennium

MillenniumA millennium is a time period of a thousand years . It is, therefore, a stage of ten centuries , equivalent to one hundred decades .

For example: "The utensils found at the foot of the volcano are estimated to be two millennia old" , "These lands have belonged to our people for millennia: we will not tolerate our home being taken away from us" , "The mummy would have been buried there a millennium ago" .

It is customary to take millennia into account in the Christian era . Year 1 of the Gregorian calendar (which does not have a year 0 ), in this framework, represents the beginning of this era .

The first millennium , therefore, runs from the year 1 to 1000 ; the second millennium , from 1001 to 2000. This means that we are currently living in the third millennium of the Christian era.

If someone refers to what will happen in the fourth millennium , then they will be referring to events that would happen between the years 3001 and 4000 of the Gregorian calendar.

«Milenio Diario» , on the other hand, is a Mexican daily newspaper. It was founded in Monterrey in 1974 under the name «Diario de Monterrey» and began publishing in 2000 in Mexico City . This newspaper is part of a group that includes a television channel ( Milenio Televisión ) and a radio station ( Milenio Radio ).

The Millennial Generation or Generation Y is the group of people born between the beginning of the 1980s and the beginning of the 2000s . These individuals are referred to as millennials and, from the field of marketing and sociology, certain behavioral characteristics are attributed to them.

On Spanish television there is a programme called Cuarto Milenio , directed and presented by Iker Jiménez and Carmen Porter . It belongs to the investigative journalism genre and its first broadcast took place on 16 November 2005.

Cuarto Milenio deals with all topics related to mystery and the unknown, such as occultism, conspiracies, criminology, ufology, astronomy, parapsychology, archaeology and demonology, among many others. Each program's hosts welcome various specialists who help them debate these topics, contributing their specific knowledge to enrich the conversation and provide viewers with various points of view so they can draw their own conclusions.

MillenniumGiven the nature of the cases presented in the program, many people doubt its legitimacy or even deny it. On the other hand, there are those who accept its content as an interesting complement to news about the "material world."

Millennials are a hot topic of conversation in the media, largely because the concept of millennials itself holds a deep fascination for us . The reason for this is that no human being could see two millennial changes in their lifetime , and in fact, most never even experience one.

It is important to highlight the arbitrary nature, so to speak, of the measurement of time that we humans carry out. Although the position of the sun, the passage from day to night, the characteristics of the seasons and other phenomena that are taken as a point of reference are undeniable from a scientific point of view, nature has not given us the names of the days and months or their exact duration, if any, so all this arose from the observation of our ancestors.

This gives a very particular character to a concept like the millennium , as well as to the century , because if we met beings from other planets we might discover that they do not use them, while for us they are part of fundamental knowledge.
