Commodity

Commodities are movable things that can be bought and sold.

A merchandise is a movable thing that is constituted as an object of treatment or sale . The concept, coming from the Italian mercanzia , is usually applied to economic goods that can be bought or sold .

For example: "The boss informed me that the merchandise from Europe has not yet arrived" , "My father works as a transporter and takes merchandise to different parts of the country" , "The bad thing about importing this type of merchandise is that you have to pay very high taxes .

Goods and money

Commodities, therefore, are exchangeable for other things . This implies that some type of equivalence can be established between different goods. Goods are exchangeable through barter (one good is delivered and a different one is received) or through money (a certain amount of money is given that is equivalent to the good).

Starting with money, the exchange of goods is no longer direct. Money itself, on the other hand, has become a commodity that people try to hoard as a store of wealth or for another reason.

Money is a commodity in itself.

The cost and work

To understand the notion of merchandise or understand the reason for its value , it is important to keep in mind that the production of merchandise involves a cost or work . The value of the commodity, therefore, originates in its production and is then reflected in circulation.

Marxism and other doctrines maintain that capitalism is based on the appropriation of surplus value (the surplus value generated by the worker and not remunerated by the capitalist).

At this time, in society there are various legal problems with a series of very specific merchandise. We are referring to counterfeit goods and those consisting of bundles of drugs . In both cases, the countries' police are in charge of undertaking plans to seize them and prevent them from going on the market , violating the laws, endangering the lives of many people and allowing some individuals to enrich themselves in this way.

Freight transport

Currently, in addition to the manufacturing of these merchandise, other economic activities have also been created that are closely related to them. We are referring specifically to what is known as transportation of goods which, as its name indicates, consists of taking goods from their place of creation to the destination, the company or entity that has purchased and required them.

However, within the industries themselves there is also freight transportation. Specifically, these are all the tasks consisting of loading, unloading and storing them in the spaces enabled for this. In this way, they will be ready when they are demanded in the market.

All of this without forgetting that at the destination, once they have arrived, forklifts are often used to carry them from one side of the company to the other. These are devices that have the capacity to undertake the vertical transport of objects of various kinds between the different floors of the building.
