Infringement

The Latin word infractio came into our language as infringement . The term refers to the violation of a rule or agreement .

A Latin word is the result of the sum of two lexical components of said language:

-The prefix «in-«, which can be translated as «inside».

-The verb "frangere", which is synonymous with "break" and "break".

InfringementFor example: "Yesterday I received a violation for speeding" , "The restaurant was closed for its repeated violations of food safety regulations" , "Violations of the commercial loyalty law are quite common" .

Violation, non-compliance , infringement, breach or even transgression are some of the words that can be used as a synonym for infringement. On the contrary, among its antonyms we find terms such as justice, legitimacy, care or even observance.

When someone does not comply with a rule , they commit an infraction. This non-compliance usually motivates some type of sanction by the competent authorities.

Suppose that, in a certain city , there is a regulation that requires restaurants to display their menus on the door with the prices of each dish. In this way, the customer can analyze the establishment's offer before entering. If a restaurant does not present the menu with prices at the entrance, it commits an infraction and is fined.

In the same way, we cannot ignore that during the confinement of citizens in their homes in Spain due to the coronavirus crisis, there were people who committed the infraction of going out on the street without justified cause or who chose to meet with more individuals. when that was prohibited. Hence, they had to face different sanctions for having skipped the obligations imposed in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

In the field of sport , an infraction is a foul : that is, a violation of the regulations. The concept is generally associated with a hit that is dealt to an opponent: "The defender committed an obvious infraction in his own area and the referee did not hesitate to sanction the penalty" , "The Chicago Bulls forward was preparing to score a double when he received a harsh infraction that caused an injury to his left wrist" , "The home team was penalized for eight infractions in the first half" .

Traffic violations , meanwhile, are common throughout the world. Many motorists fail to comply with road regulations, whether by driving at high speed, not respecting traffic lights or parking in illegal places, for which they must pay fines.

Other very common violations committed when driving a vehicle are not wearing a seat belt, driving with an expired license or without points, being behind the wheel while checking the mobile phone, driving exceeding the permitted level of alcohol in the blood, driving a car on a road in a reckless manner, making dangerous and improper overtakes or even not respecting the safety distance with respect to the vehicle traveling in front.
