Rack

The etymological origin of the term rack we have to explain is found in Latin. Specifically, it is found in the word "gradus", which can be translated as "step", "rank" or "step".

According to the dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy ( RAE ), grada is the diminutive of stand : a seat, a platform or a step. The concept is used in different ways depending on the context.

RackA rack can be a device used in laboratories to organize and support test tubes (the containers used in chemical analysis). The test tubes are arranged in racks, which can be made of plastic, metal or wood. In this way, the scientist can manipulate the substances comfortably and the risk of accident is minimized. If a test tube is not placed in the rack, it may tip over or fall and break.

Racks are one of the most used work utensils in laboratories and help not only to have clear organization and order in them but also to prevent substances from falling, losing samples or even accidents with substances. certain danger.

In the same way, you must know that there are not only racks for test tubes but there are also racks for storing pipettes or even for the necessary stirring rods.

It is also important to know that there are different types of racks based on several criteria:

-If we take into account the material with which they are made, we find incubation racks, single-use racks which are those made with polystyrene, foam rubber racks, racks with lids, racks with isofreeze…

-In the event that what its function is is considered as a criterion, we can talk about interlocking cubic racks, secant racks, classic racks, one-piece racks, those that are inclined or called vials, among others. The latter we have to establish that they are the ones designed for small blisters.

A small portable ladder is also called a rack. Racks usually have a few steps (rungs) and can often be folded to make them easier to store and move. For example : "I'm going to borrow my uncle's rack so I can paint the ceiling," "I fell off the rack and broke my hand," "I need the rack to reach the highest shelves in the cupboard."

The rack, on the other hand, is a mold that is used in the manufacture of bricks . These frameworks emerged several thousand years before Christ to favor the production of identical or, at least, similar units.

The basic racks are wooden molds with rectangular holes and a handle that allows the tool to be manipulated. With these elements it is possible for the brick to acquire the desired shape once it is consolidated.
