People

A group of people is called people : that is, human beings. The group of individuals in question may be made up of a variable number of members .

PeopleFor example: “There are always a lot of people in this bar since it has affordable prices” , “I don't understand the people who criticize Lionel Messi: for me he is the best player in the world” , “People made their discontent known to the mayor.” with shouts and boos."

The concept can be used in multiple areas. If someone refers to “the people who attended Lady Gaga's concert,” to cite one case, they will be referring to all the spectators who came to enjoy the show. Something similar happens when we talk about “the people who went to see the game” or “the people who attended the political event.”

Beyond the difficulty of individualizing all the people who, in the examples mentioned, are part of “the people” , the group is made up of a specific number of subjects. On other occasions, the idea of people is linked to an abstract or indeterminate number of men and women.

Suppose a journalist maintains that “people are dissatisfied with the current government.” The people, would they be all the inhabitants of a country? How does an analyst get to know everyone's opinion? Most likely, there will be people against the government and people for it.

In the same way, we cannot ignore that the term we are dealing with has been used on numerous occasions to give titles to programs, movies, books... A good example of this is the television program “Gente”, which was broadcast on TVE. (Spain) from the mid-90s to 2011.

It was broadcast from Monday to Friday from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and had a part dedicated to events and another to what is known as "heart press." Samuel Martín Mateos, Pepa Bueno, Jose Toledo, Sonia Ferrer, María José Molina and María Avizanda are the presenters who were in charge of it during different stages.

Nor can we forget the musical program “Gente Joven”, which TVE broadcast from 1975 to 1987 and which had figures such as Antolín García, Isabel Tenaille or Marisa Abad, among others, as hosts. The space allowed people who wanted to be singers to come to demonstrate their skills in genres such as folk, variety, light song or Spanish song, among others.

On a literary level we can also highlight works such as the novel “People Who Come and Bah”, written by Laura Norton. It takes as its protagonist Bea, a successful architect who sees her world collapse when she is fired from her job and her fiancé appears in all the media after having been "caught" having relations with a famous television presenter.

The notion of people, finally, can be associated with a social class : rich people, poor people, etc.
