Masonry

The container used to make dough is called a drawer.

The etymology of drawer takes us to the Italian word drawerta . The Royal Spanish Academy ( RAE ) recognizes five meanings of the term in its dictionary.

The first meaning refers to a drawer : that is, a receptacle that is located in the gap of a piece of furniture, entering and leaving it. In the specific case of the drawer, it is a sliding drawer that is part of a desk .

Drawer Utility

Drawers are very useful elements in any type of furniture. In some cases, they have a lock so that the objects stored in them are safe and not accessible to anyone.

We said that drawers are desk drawers. A desk can have different characteristics: generally, it has a board or table that allows you to write. The drawers are constituted as spaces to deposit what you want to have at hand.

A drawer can be used to store papers, documents and writing utensils (pens, pencils, etc.). It also allows you to store jewelry and even money , especially when it can be locked.

It is important to mention that a piece of furniture that has several drawers is called a drawer. Therefore, the idea of a drawer can refer specifically to a drawer or a piece of furniture.

Different containers

Several containers with different characteristics are called drawers. In the navy , the drawer is the tray with a handle that is used to serve food on board. Also in this context, a type of bucket with which wine is served to sailors is called drawer.

In masonry , on the other hand, the drawer is the container used to make the dough . This drawer, then, is intended for the preparation of plaster, mortar , etc. Originally they were made of wood, although today there are rubber and plastic drawers, both square and circular in shape.

Automobile

In Cuba, the glove compartment is known as a drawer.

The drawer as a glove box

In Cuban territory, finally, the idea of a drawer refers to what is known in other countries as a glove box . This compartment allows you to store small items in a car.

The drawer is located in front of the passenger or co-pilot seat, in the area known as the dashboard (the vehicle dashboard where indicators and certain controls are located). It can be noted that it is a box or drawer that is closed with a latch or, in certain cases, with a key .

Originally the compartment was intended to store gloves; hence its name glove box. Now it is common to leave documentation, tissues, sheets of paper, pens, candy, compact discs or a pendrive with music , for example, in the drawer.

It must be taken into account that, inside the drawer, the temperature can be very high. That is why it is not recommended to store medicines or items that could be damaged by heat.

In this sense, it is worth noting that, in the most modern cars, the drawer can have refrigeration , thus even allowing drinks to be stored. There are also drawers that, once opened, have a section for placing a glass.
