Fracture

The first step we are going to take before fully entering into the meaning of the term fracture is to know its etymological origin. In this case, we can state that it is a word that derives from the Latin, "fracture", which is exactly the result of the union of two lexical components of that:

-The verb "frango, frangere", which can be translated as "break into pieces."

-The suffix "-ura", which is used to indicate "action" or "process."

The concept of fracture refers to the act and result of fracturing : breaking, fragmenting or breaking something. The most common use of the term is associated with what happens to a bone when it breaks .

FractureFor example: «My grandmother is hospitalized because she slipped and suffered a hip fracture» , «When I was a child I fell from a ladder and had a broken arm» , «The club doctor confirmed that the striker will not play for several months for the tibia fracture he suffered in the last game .

In the medical field, the loss of continuity of a bone is called a fracture, produced when the elastic resistance of the bone piece is overcome by traction or force . The fracture may be a small injury or involve extensive destruction of the bone.

The fracture can be caused by direct trauma . In this case, the energy from a blow directly impacts the skin, soft tissues and bone. Fractures can also occur due to indirect trauma or fatigue .

If the bone breaks but there is no break in the skin , the fracture is closed . On the other hand, when the bone passes through the skin and reaches the outside, the fracture is open or exposed .

Treatment for a fracture varies depending on the type of injury and the bone affected. At a general level it can be said that the damaged bone must be immobilized so that it does not cause other internal damage and to reduce pain. In some cases, the fracture requires surgical intervention .

Among the most common fractures that many people suffer are those of the fingers, the clavicle, which is very common in athletes; that of the forearm, which is greatly suffered by children and young people; hip pain, which usually occurs in older people; that of the humerus, which is one of the most experienced by those under 18 years of age...

For geology , a fracture occurs when different pieces that are part of a solid body are separated by pressure. Engineering , for its part, refers to a fracture when a resistant element breaks.

At a technological level, we cannot ignore the existence of what is known as the digital fracture or digital divide. This term is intended to refer to the inequalities that exist between people when it comes to accessing technology, such as the Internet, or to in-depth knowledge of its latest developments.

Thus, for example, it is considered that there is a gap in this sense between those who live in a large city, such as Madrid, and those who reside in a small town that is practically lost, such as Espinosa de Almanza, located in the autonomous community of Castilla y León.

The idea of fracture, finally, is used in the field of politics to indicate a division or separation of a political party, an organization or a group of individuals.
