Fair

Recreation

A fair can be a set of recreational facilities.

From the Latin ferĭa , a fair is an economic, social or cultural event that can be established or temporary, and that can take place in a fixed location or take place on an itinerant basis. Fairs are usually dedicated to a specific topic or have a common purpose.

A fair can be a market that is set up in a public space on certain designated days. Its origin dates back to the Middle Ages , when merchants gathered at the gates of a city wall to trade their products for several days. These fairs were organized to coincide with the local festival , under the patronage of a patron saint.

A similar use of the concept continues these days, to name the installation of sales stalls in a plaza or other public space. For example: “Tomorrow the fair is coming to the neighborhood: I'm going to take the opportunity to buy fruits and vegetables,” “Juan bought a history book at the park fair.”

The fair as an entertainment space

A fair, on the other hand, is known as the set of recreational facilities that are installed for certain festivals. Circuses, carousels and stalls selling sweets are usually part of these fairs: “When I was a child, I loved fairs because I spent hours and hours playing,” “Next week they will install a fair with a beautiful carousel.”

In this sense, we would have to highlight that one of the most important events of this type takes place in Spain. We are referring to the April Fair in Seville , where in a very large area of the city attractions of various types are installed for the enjoyment of all children and also adults.

But perhaps the most significant area is where a multitude of booths stand. In this way, Sevillians and the numerous visitors who come to the city have the opportunity not only to dance to the most traditional music but also to taste the most exquisite dishes and products of the land.

All this without forgetting that it becomes another significant element of the April Fair that many people come riding horses and horse-drawn carriages dressed in the corresponding short suits for them and flamenco dresses for them.

The exhibition of an economic sector aimed at the promotion and sale of its products is called a fair (for example, a book fair).

Exposure of a sector

Fairs are also facilities where products from a single commercial or industrial sector are exhibited for promotion and sale . It is possible, therefore, to speak of a book fair , a shoe fair or another type of fair.

Within the set of events that have the name of fair and that become a global benchmark, we would highlight FITUR, that is, the International Tourism Fair that is held annually in Madrid (Spain). Many countries participate in it with the clear objective of making known their values and benefits as an ideal destination to enjoy a vacation.

Through stands and presentations, the participating nations show the numerous attendees why they are the best option to enjoy a getaway.
