Estimate

Before entering fully into the meaning of the term estimation, we are going to proceed to know its etymological origin. In this case we can state that it is a word that derives from Latin, exactly from "aestimatio", which is the result of the sum of the following lexical components:

-The noun "aes, aeris", which can be translated as "bronze" or "copper".

-The word "tem", which means "cut".

Estimation refers to the valuation or appreciation made of something. It is an appraisal that is developed to calculate a value or to judge qualities.

EstimateFor example: "According to experts' estimates, the economy will grow between 2% and 4% in the second half," "The consulting firm raised its estimate of the Gross Domestic Product," "I believe that the estimate of the work of this writer is a bit exaggerated .

The estimate is often related to a calculation that is made taking into account various variables . An economics specialist, for example, can analyze different statistics to make an estimate of the growth or reduction of the unemployment rate . A businessman, in a similar sense, can study figures from his business to make an estimate of the income his company will obtain at the end of a period.

Within accounting, finance and the business world, two types of estimates are usually discussed:

-Direct estimation, which is a type of regime that can be of two types: normal and simplified. It establishes that the self-employed person who registers for this has to face a forceful series of accounting obligations for what his business is. In the same way, you must proceed to undertake the official accounting that is regulated by the pertinent commercial code.

-The objective estimation is the regime known as modules. The self-employed person who takes advantage of it must know that, on a quarterly basis, they must pay a specific amount of personal income tax. You will always have to pay exactly the same, regardless of whether you have profits or losses. In general, those who tend to use this type of estimate are ranchers, those dedicated to retail trade, farmers... Of course, to be able to do so it is essential that income does not exceed 250,000 euros per year.

The concept of estimation also refers to a qualitative and not quantitative evaluation . A film critic may consider his colleagues' estimate of a film to be incorrect: while most experts condemned the proposal, he found it to be of very good quality.

Esteem, finally, can mention affection , consideration or love : "With his efforts on the playing field, the young athlete earned the esteem of his supporters," "I no longer know what to do to deserve the esteem of my boss" , "I don't want alms, I have self-esteem and I need to work" .
