Impression

A print is obtained by printing something on something else.

Stamping is the action and effect of stamping . This verb refers to printing something on something else ( "I'm going to print a photo of my son on my jacket" ) or to throwing something or someone causing it to hit the floor, a wall, etc. ( "The boy slammed the glass on the ground when he heard his father's challenge." )

Being able to determine the etymological origin of the term that concerns us now takes us to French, since it comes from the Gallic verb estamper . It is a word that, in turn, comes from the French stampon , which can be translated as "crush" .

Printing on fabrics

Stamping can be produced in different ways and on various materials. It is common for the concept of printing to be used in reference to a fabric that has hot or cold printed designs. It can be said, in that case, that the fabric is printed or has a print. For example: "My mother gave me a sweatshirt printed with the image of Mickey Mouse," "The saleswoman offered me a solid-color sweater and another print," "I love the prints in this store: they are very colorful."

In this case, it must be said that fashion usually sets trends in terms of prints. Thus, for example, at times it is necessary to wear clothing of all kinds that opt for having prints that contain floral motifs, stripes or even ethnic class elements.

Pants, dresses or skirts are usually some of the garments that can have any of these types of prints. However, the item most commonly opted for is the t-shirt. And the fact is that, in addition to the aforementioned prints that now prevail, it is common for her to choose to wear famous phrases, characters from film and television...

The idea of stamping can also refer to the object that, by percussion or pressure, is manufactured from a matrix or a mold .

Dress

The print is common in clothing.

The concept associated with metals

In addition to all this, we would have to explain that there is also what is known as metal stamping . This is a term used to record an industrial process through which a metal is manufactured by subjecting it to compression between two different molds.

This type of stamping can be of two types: hot , through which rough products are obtained, or cold . In the latter case, there are also several techniques such as deep drawing or die-cutting .

Screen printed

The printing technique that consists of reproducing images on any material by transferring ink through a tensioned mesh is known as screen printing . The stamping is produced with the passage of the ink, this passage being blocked in the areas that do not want to be stamped.

This stamping system is repetitive: when the first model has already been achieved, it is possible to repeat the same impression thousands of times without losing definition in the stamping.
