France

The Napoleonic era is the period in French history that had Napoleon Bonaparte as its leader.

An era is a long historical period that is characterized by presenting very different ways of life and cultures compared to previous periods. For example: "We live in the era of communications: it is possible to talk to anywhere in the world from a computer and almost at no cost."

The era can be predominantly chronological, when it begins on a certain date and ends on another, or associated with a period that is characterized by the relevance of an event, a process or a character.

Eras associated with historical figures or events

In this sense, it is curious to highlight the fact that it is common to use a reference figure to establish eras such as historical newspapers. Thus, for example, we find the so-called Elizabethan era , which is used in England to refer to the period between 1558 and 1625, which was dominated by the figure of the monarch Elizabeth I who would lead the country until the year 1603 but which left its clear influence until the aforementioned 1920s.

In the same way, there is also the Napoleonic era which, as its name indicates, is the one in which Napoléon Bonaparte became the undisputed leader of France. The aforementioned period would cover from 1799 to 1815.

There are many examples of eras that have been established based on a real character, but we also find others that have a specific historical event as their criterion. In this way, we could speak, for example, of the so-called era of discoveries that would span from the beginning of the 15th century to the first stages of the 16th century, a time during which Europeans, and specifically both the Spanish and the Portuguese, dedicated themselves to travel the world and conquer it.

Geology

According to geology, four major eras can be recognized.

The concept in geology

Great periods of geological or cosmic evolution are known as eras.

For geology , there are four major eras: the Precambrian era , the Paleozoic era , the Mesozoic era and the Cenozoic era : "We have made important discoveries that confirm that these lands have been inhabited since the Mesozoic era."

Other uses of the term era

On the other hand, an era is a specific date or a specific event from which the years of a new historical period begin to be counted: «After the retirement of Pete Sampras, professional tennis began to live a new era» , « Barack Obama's victory marks the beginning of another era in American history .

The notion of era also allows us to refer to the space of land where cereals are threshed or the space of land that is used for growing vegetables or flowers.

In addition to all of the above, we cannot forget that era is not only a past tense form of the verb to be but also a suffix that has several uses. One of them is to practice as a suffix to nouns, giving them the meaning of profession. An example of this would be the words waitress, hairdresser, nurse or cook.

Era (from Enminential Rythm of the Ancesterses ), lastly, is a project by French musician Eric Lévi that is based on the style of medieval Gregorian chants and also an acronym for Acute Kidney Disease ( ERA ).
