Publishing industry

The publishing industry faces the challenges posed by new technologies.

The term editorial has three main uses or meanings. As an adjective , the concept refers to that belonging to or relating to the editors or editions . For example: "The publishing industry has fallen 17% in the last year due to piracy" , "The inclusion of the Argentine novelist as a regular columnist was a great editorial success for the newspaper."

An editorial, on the other hand, is an unsigned journalistic article that presents an analysis and, usually, a judgment on a highly relevant news story . This is a note that reflects the ideological line and position of the media on the issue in question. In this sense, the editorial is also a journalistic genre: «The editorial published by La Nación was very harsh with the government's recent measures» , «The president was obfuscated with the editorials that the main media published in recent days» .

Types of editorial

We could also establish that there are different types of editorials depending on the specific objective they pursue and also the content they have. Specifically, among the most significant classes are the following:

Thesis publishing. Under this name are articles in which an attempt is made to show in a clear and palpable way the opinion for or against a certain fact or person.

Interpretive Editorial. In this case, we could determine that it is characterized because it includes everything from causes or effects to conjectures and perceptions of a fact or issue.

Action Editorial. "Move" the reader. This is the main objective pursued by this type of editorial, that is, trying to get the recipient to act and acquire a very clear awareness about what is being told.

Explanatory editorial is one that is basically dedicated to exposing and detailing an entire list of facts without at any time being able to deduce specific opinions about them.

Publications

There are publishers that specialize in publishing magazines.

publishing companies

The publishing house or company dedicated to the printing and distribution of publications, finally, is also called a publisher . This activity was linked for many years to the publication of books, magazines and newspapers through printing systems. However, the advancement of new technologies allows the existence of publishers that print materials on demand or that limit themselves to publishing texts in digital format.

The delivery of the original, the evaluation by the publisher, the correction of style and the philological review, the layout, the composition, the printing, the finishing, the binding and the putting on sale and circulation are specifically all the phases of the work for a publishing company. As you can see, they include from the moment the author presents his work to the author until it is finally on the market and offers the possibility that any reader can buy it in bookstores and specialized stores.

Publishers often organize contests to find new authors or reward the most talented writers. Its activity, therefore, transcends the evaluation, management and publication of books.
