Dialogue

A conversation involves establishing communication.

Conversation is the action and effect of one or more people speaking with another or others . The term comes from the Latin conversatĭo and is often used as a synonym for dialogue or conversation .

For example: “The governor had a long conversation with the victim's father and promised to find the culprits” , “Yesterday I heard a conversation on the train where a woman was telling another that the president is going to resign” , “Could you wait a minute, please? This is a private conversation” .

Communication through language

Conversation involves communication through some type of language (oral, gestural, written, etc.). It involves an interaction where two or more people jointly construct a text (unlike a monologue).

Specifically, for a conversation to take place, a number of fundamental elements must come into play. Specifically, these include the following:

• Emitter, which is the one that transmits information.

• Receiver, who is the one who receives the aforementioned information.

• Message, which is what is transmitted, that is, the aforementioned information.

• Code, which is the language in which the conversation takes place.

• Channel, which would be where the information flows.

• Context, which is the place where the message itself is given.

Requirements for the development of a conversation

In addition to all of the above, it is essential to be clear that for a conversation to be successful and fruitful for the parties involved, a series of important requirements must be met:

• Both subjects must listen with interest to the other and, of course, pay attention to each other.

• It is vital not to interrupt the words of the person who is speaking.

• You must always maintain absolute tolerance towards the statements and opinions of the other individual who participates in the dialogue.

• From time to time, sketch a smile.

• Abrupt changes in topics should be avoided.

• You should not ignore the person you are having the conversation with.

• You must speak clearly, with a tone of voice that is neither too loud nor too low. It is essential to be brief and not use an aggressive or threatening tone.

Talk

There are informal conversations and formal conversations.

The appearance of noises

We cannot overlook the fact that any conversation can produce so-called noises, which are all those elements that interfere and disturb the conversation. Examples of this are distractions between the participants, someone's phone ringing...

The context in which a conversation takes place determines its characteristics. An informal conversation usually revolves around several topics, without any prior organization. A formal conversation , on the other hand, requires a certain protocol.

Stages of conversation

Greetings are usually the starting point of a conversation. Then come the questions (interrogative statements), since the conversation is usually carried out with the aim of requesting some kind of information . However, there are also conversations where the main purpose is to transmit some information without any questions in between.

The tone of the conversation is known as the intensity or emphasis of the dialogue. A heated conversation is one in which participants argue or shout to defend their position. It should be noted that a conversation can go through different tones before ending.
