Comment

Commenting means making a comment.

Commenting is the action of explaining , that is, mentioning the content of a text to ensure that it is understood in a simple way (as defined by the Royal Spanish Academy ). The term derives from the Latin commentare and covers making comments, issuing judgments and making known multiple assessments or considerations on a given matter.

There are several words that can be used as synonyms for comment, although they do not mean exactly the same thing: clarify , apostille , gloss , note , explain , illustrate , paraphrase and reveal , are some of them.

Likewise, there are different antonyms for the term comment, as is the case with words such as shut up , silence and cover up .

Comment on the Internet

Commenting on the Internet is making small assessments of existing content on the Internet, such as articles on blogs, forums or networks; annotations on photographs or material on social networks; or opinions on a topic on a page where we are allowed to do so, for example.

In addition, a message that contains false advertising , or text that is offensive to a person or social group, is called spam comment . It is also called spam and messages that have not been requested, that are negative or from an unknown sender can fall into this classification. These are usually messages sent en masse for commercial purposes and that can harm the recipient in one or many ways.

It is a word that comes from the Anglo-Saxon term spam and was born in World War II , soldiers who were at war received shipments of cans from their relatives. Spam was a meat that came in a can and was very common in the United States . On the other hand, the act of sending these messages is called spamming .

Spamming

There are many ways to carry out spamming, however the most used is the one done through messages to emails or accounts on social networks . Pop-up windows are also common, which often even come with viruses.

On the Internet, comments are subject to moderation , which is carried out by the different administrators of each page, who have the right to delete spam or disrespectful messages .

Commentary based on a text

A text-based commentary is a work or analysis developed based on a specific text, which when presented usually adopts the typical structure of an opinion article. It is generally used to estimate a student's reading ability and knowledge about a certain subject.

The text commentary is designed with reading as a basis and in order to arrive at a synthesis and assessment that is divided into multiple segments: a theme (where the central idea of the text is reflected), an organizational scheme (which divides the sections thematic themes of the text), a summary (about what is discussed in the text), a linguistic characterization (the sentence modality is identified) and a personal assessment (the subjective opinion of the person making the comment).

Philosophy clarifies that commenting on a text does not mean paraphrasing it (that is, it does not consist of using other words to repeat exactly the same thing that the original text says). Nor is a comment limited to explaining the meaning of the ideas of the writing, since it is part of the analysis of the text and not the comment itself.
