Swing

Before entering fully into the meaning of the term swing, let's know its etymological origin. In this case, we can establish that it is a word that derives from the Greek "kolymban."

The idea of swing comes from swinging : swinging, rocking. A swing is called a device that consists of a seat tied by ropes or chains to a firm structure, hanging in the air. The person sitting on the swing can therefore move back and forth by swinging.

SwingAlso called hammocks , swings are used by children for fun. Typically, an adult pushes the seat to swing the child, whose feet will not be in contact with the ground .

There are many types of swings. The seat, which may or may not have a backrest, is constructed of wood, canvas, plastic, leather, or other materials. In some cases, children can put their legs into holes to reduce the risk of falling. There are also more precarious swings, which are made with a tire tied to a tree .

In various public parks , several swings are installed in the same structure. This way many children can have fun simultaneously.

It is important to keep in mind that using a swing carries different risks . The person who is hanging can fall with the swing and be injured when hitting the surface. On the other hand, the swing user may also hit other individuals who get in his or her path. That is why it is recommended that children, when using a swing, always be accompanied by adults. At the same time, it is essential to use hammocks responsibly and with caution.

In addition to all the above, we cannot ignore that there is a musical group in Spain that uses the term in question in its name. We are referring to The Killer Swing. It is a band from Pamplona (Navarra) that has its origins in 1999 and that is committed to great versatility because in its songs you can find everything from those that are pure rock to others that are part of punk.

There are five albums they have on the market and those are made up of singles that have given them great success such as "Toro."

In the literary field, there are many works that have used the term in question in their titles. A good example of this is the novel "A swing in the stars", published in 2013, and written by Elena Castillo Castro. It tells the love story between two souls who are called to be together, but who will have to face endless obstacles, including death.

Likewise, we can also highlight another book that uses that word. This is "The Girl on the Swing", which was published in 1974 in Spanish and belongs to the writer Richard Adams.
