The jacket is a warm garment that can have various characteristics.

A jacket is a garment whose front part is open . It is a concept that comes from jaqueta , a term derived from the French jaquette that is no longer used in our language.

Overview

Jackets have sleeves and usually extend below the waist. In any case, there are multiple models and types of jackets, with different characteristics.

A jacket can have internal and external pockets and have buttons or closure (zipper) in the front. There are jackets for formal use and others that are used in informal settings. It is common for jackets to have different features depending on whether they are men's jackets or women's jackets . Unisex jackets are also manufactured.

Depending on the country, the jacket is known as a campera or chamarra , for example. However, these notions may refer to certain kinds of jackets in particular, depending on the context. In general terms, these are coats that are worn over other garments, and it is possible to get jackets that are more or less warm depending on their material, the thickness of the fabric or fabric and the possible filling.

Its origin is not defined, since even in remote times there were products with similar characteristics in different parts of the world. For example, in ancient Greece and Rome, short garments called "chitons" or " tunics " were worn, which could be considered precursors to jackets.
