Car

The Gallic word carros passed into the Latin carrus , which came to our language as carro . The concept refers to a vehicle equipped with two wheels and pulled by an animal that is used to transport different objects.

CarCarts are carriages : means of transport that have a frame mounted on wheels. In this case, the frame has a frame with ropes that allow the load to be held and with boards that hold it. It also has poles that serve to hitch the team.

For pulling a cart, oxen, mules, horses or other animals can be used. The choice of draft animal is usually linked to availability according to geographical characteristics.

It should also be noted that there are many types of cars, among which we can highlight some such as the following:

-Berlina, which is a closed carriage with a square appearance at the top, while the bottom has the appearance of a boat. It also has side doors with glass and can seat four people.

-Cabriolet, which is a two-wheeled car with a hood.

-Calesa, which is another type of carriage that can have two or three wheels. Inside it can have two or four seats. Likewise, it should be noted that its hood is made of cowhide. Nowadays, calesa have become tourist means of transport that allow visitors to get to know the historic centres of certain cities in Spain. We are referring to cities such as Seville or Córdoba, among others.

-Quadriga, which was a type of chariot typical of the Roman Empire. It was pulled by four horses in a row, hence its name. The best known of all is the one that forms part of the Berlin Quadriga monument that crowns what is now the Brandenburg Gate.

-Phaeton is another type of four-wheeled carriage that can be with or without a hood. It has a box for the rear seat and a circular seat in the front. There are also several types, such as the arrow phaeton, the light phaeton, the door phaeton...

When the cart is pulled by a human being , it is called a rickshaw . These vehicles are commonly used in Asian nations such as India and China and are even an attraction for tourists.

In some countries , carro is synonymous with car or automobile : “I am very unlucky: my car broke down and I have to travel tomorrow” , “The car ran out of gas” , “My father does not want to lend me his car” .

The idea of carro can also be used, in diminutive, to refer to a baby stroller (carriage) or a shopping cart (also called changuito or chango).

The notion of a cart, finally, can refer to a large amount : "I'm faced with a cartload of problems, I don't know what to do anymore" , "If I could get rid of the cartload of pending tasks I have, I would go to the bar with you without hesitation" .
