Basket save and move

The basket is used to store and carry objects

The notion of basket lacks an unequivocal definition. According to the dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy ( RAE ), it is a basket whose mouth is narrow ; However, a wide-mouth basket is also called canasto.

A basket or basket

At a general level, therefore, we can say that a basket is a basket (a wicker basket that generally has handles) or a basket (a container that is woven with reeds, reeds, wicker or other similar materials).

The baskets have multiple uses. They are often used to transport food , either for street sale or for consumption in a park, in the countryside, etc.

There are those who use the baskets for dirty clothes . In this way, they accumulate the used clothes there before putting them in the washing machine .

Organizer baskets , on the other hand, function as drawers or trunks. In some cases they can even be stacked, thereby helping to save space .

For dirty clothes

This product is widely used in different cultures, both in large families and in single-person households. It provides great convenience because it centralizes the location of the clothes that we have already worn until it is time to wash them.

It is important to mention that its function is not only organizational, but also promotes the hygiene of the house by avoiding the accumulation of dirty clothes on beds, chairs and other furniture. In addition, it protects the clothing itself, because it prevents it from falling and being stepped on by accident or getting stained, for example.

Although it is called a "basket", this product is marketed in many different shapes and materials , most of them very different from the definition we provided at the beginning of this article. As happens with language in many cases, a proper name arises that initially does coincide with the characteristics of the object it designates, but is maintained by habit even when the latter completely changes its form.

bicycle basket

Bicycles with baskets , meanwhile, are chosen by many people. By having a basket, it is possible to use this means of transportation to move around and, in turn, carry certain objects. With a bicycle of this type you can do shopping, to mention one possibility, since the purchased goods can be transported in the basket.

basket bug

The basket bug , finally, is the caterpillar of certain lepidopterans ( insects that have a sucking mouth and four wings and develop a complete metamorphosis). The name comes from the hanging cocoon they create on the trees, which looks like a conical basket.

Bug basket

The female basket bug spends her entire life in the cocoon.

Just like the other insects of the Psychidae family, it spends almost its entire life inside said cocoon, which they create with woody plant remains and silk . One of its characteristics is its sexual dimorphism, that is, the differences that exist between males and females: the latter never leave the cocoon, but only show their heads and legs, and do not have wings; The males, on the other hand, fly away as adults to look for a female to fertilize, and then die.

Each year there is a single generation of basket bugs, which are born during spring in the highest parts of the trees. At the beginning of their lives they look like yellowish larvae, which hang from their birthplace to settle in a lower part or on the ground, and look for a tree or bush in which to develop. The basis of their diet is the leaves. They begin to make their characteristic cocoon on the second day .
