Campera is a term whose meaning varies according to the region and context. In several Latin American countries , such as Argentina , Uruguay , Chile , Paraguay , Bolivia and the Dominican Republic , a campera is a sports or casual jacket .
A warm garment
To understand what a jacket is in this sense, therefore, we must first focus on the notion of a jacket . This is the name given to a garment whose distinctive characteristic is that it is open in its front sector.
Jackets or jackets, in this framework, usually have a closure ( zipper ) or buttons so that it is possible to close them when desired. Typically, they also have sleeves and extend below the waist, although jacket models can be quite different from each other.
For example: “It's very cold, I should have brought a warmer jacket,” “Don't forget the jacket! It's cool” , “My parents gave me a blue and green jacket for my birthday” . As can be seen, people must be attentive to the weather in cold seasons so as not to forget to take a jacket when we go out.
This product can be manufactured in different materials, some synthetic and others of natural origin. Its price is closely linked to the material, as well as the manufacturing processes and, of course, the brands . Many times we pay more simply to buy a jacket from a famous designer, even if its quality is not superior to others that cost less money.
Other meanings
It should be noted that the dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy ( RAE ) recognizes other meanings of jacket. The adjective campera, or its masculine campero , can be used to refer to that linked to the countryside : that is, to a land that is located beyond the limits of a town or a city and that is usually used for the development of agricultural activities.
A country festival , to mention one case, is a celebration that takes place in a rural area . These events usually include exhibitions and games associated with the work and customs of those who live and work in the fields .
Similarly, this adjective can refer to what is exposed to the wind and sun in a rural space. With respect to field animals, they are called "free range" if they do not sleep in a covered building, but are left loose. This term can also refer to a boot without a heel, with a high shaft and made of a strong material, ideal for resisting the wear and tear of some agricultural work.
A free-range plant is one whose leaves or stems extend at ground level or at a perpendicular angle to it. A rural person performs very well in the countryside and in any rural task or space. A free-range animal is very easy to cross terrain such as mountains, rivers and ditches.
Country salad
In hot weather we usually eat cold dishes. The country salad is an easy recipe to prepare, nutritionally complete and very delicious . The necessary ingredients are the following: potatoes, red and green pepper, chives, tomato, egg, tuna, oil (preferably olive), salt and pepper.
The first step is to cook the potatoes, for which we must boil water with coarse salt, then add them and leave them until they are soft. At the same time, we can cook the eggs in another casserole . When both ingredients are done, we must remove them from the water and let them cool.
We place the potatoes and eggs in a salad bowl along with the other vegetables, previously washed, and we cut or slice everything to our liking. Finally, we add a splash of oil and season the country salad before bringing it to the table.
