Brush

Paint

With a wide brush you can apply paint quickly.

The etymology of brocha is unclear, although it is thought that it could derive from dialectal French brouche or Italian brusca . The term is used to refer to a tool that has several uses.

In its broadest sense, a brush consists of a handle and a set of bristles or hairs that allow paint , makeup or other substance to be applied to a surface. The features of the utensil depend on its purpose.

Parts of a brush

The brush, beyond its specific characteristics , basically consists of three parts: the handle , the bristles and the ferrule . The particularities of these elements, however, may vary.

Take the case of the mango . This is the name given to the elongated sector that allows the instrument to be grasped . It can be made of plastic or wood and have different lengths depending on the use that will be given to the brush.

The bristles , meanwhile, are the thick hairs that are coated with the substance that is intended to be applied. There are pig bristles, horse bristles, boar bristles and other animal bristles, but they can also be synthetic filaments.

The ferrule , finally, is that piece that links the handle and the bristles. In certain cases it is not present, since the bristles are attached directly to the handle.

makeup brush

Certain cosmetic products can be distributed with a brush.

The paint application

Paint brushes are an essential tool for painters. When you want to cover a large surface, flat, wide brushes are used. This allows for quick painting.

On the other hand, if you want to paint a narrow or irregular surface , it is usual to use a round brush . This makes it easier to dose the paint and not go beyond the limits of what you intend to paint.

The highest quality paint brushes are those that have flexible and compact bristles. This way they do not generate scratches or striations and allow the surface in question to be treated uniformly.

Cleaning the brush depends on the type of paint used. Solvent-based paints require the brush to be cleaned with turpentine , while brushes used with water-based paints can be washed with just water .

Shaving brush

The shaving brush is the object used to spread shaving foam or cream over the face . What you do is introduce the bristles of the brush into the product and then spread it over your face .

Although many men continue to choose these brushes, the instrument has currently lost popularity. This is because there are bottled foams and gels that are applied by hand, without the need for a shaving brush.

makeup distribution

Makeup powders that hide facial imperfections or highlight features are applied with a brush. The same goes for blush (the cosmetic that gives color to the cheeks).

Other products, however, are applied with brushes . Unlike brushes, brushes offer greater precision and reach narrow areas such as lips or eyelids.
