A piece of women's underwear is called a panty.
Braga is a term that comes from the Latin bracae or braca , which translates as “breeches.” The concept , in fact, can be used to refer to various types of underwear , which are garments with two legs that cover from the waist area to different heights of the thighs.
The most common meaning of panties, however, is associated with an undergarment for female use . Although there are different models , in general it can be said that the panties extend from the waist to the beginning of the legs.
The panty and its characteristics
The panties have two openings that allow the legs to be inserted. In this way, the woman must pass each leg through the corresponding hole and then raise the garment so that it covers the genital area and reaches where the model foresees it.

Historical evolution
The most distant antecedent of the panty is the loincloth , considered the first intimate garment or underwear. This garment was born to cover the genitals and evolved in multiple ways depending on each town .
In Ancient Greece and the Roman Empire there were items similar to today's panties. Anyway, there were panties that resembled pants and others that even looked like suits .
Already in the Middle Ages , the concept of lingerie was formed to refer to the set of women's underwear. Within this framework, thinner and softer materials such as linen and cotton began to be used to make panties. Likewise, only in the mid- 18th century , with the invention of machinery and the advance of the textile industry, the manufacturing and marketing of panties became widespread.
