Bottle

Liquid

A bottle is an element that allows you to store and transport liquids.

A bottle is a utensil used for storing liquids . The Latin word butticŭla came into French as bouteille , which resulted in the term of our language.

The bottles have a narrow neck that allows their contents to be easily poured into a glass or cup. In the mouth (the sector where the liquid comes out), they have a lid or a stopper so that the bottle can be opened and closed as needed.

Its characteristics

Most bottles today are made of plastic or glass , although in ancient times they were also made of metal and clay .

Those that are used to market drinks, perfumes and other liquids usually have a label that displays the brand name, product information, expiration date, etc.

Trash

Non-returnable bottles must be disposed of in the appropriate container.

Bottle types

There are bottles with different capacities. In restaurants , for example, soft drinks are usually sold in 350 or 500 cubic centimeter bottles. There are also 1 , 1.5 , 2.25 and up to 3 liter bottles, which are generally sold in stores and supermarkets.

There are glass bottles that are returnable : once the person has consumed the drink, they can return the container to the place where they purchased the product and get money for said return. Plastic bottles, on the other hand, are not returnable . This means that, when they are empty, the consumer can throw away the container .

These bottles that can be thrown away when they no longer contain liquid constitute an ecological problem. Many times people throw bottles in the wrong places and, since plastic is not biodegradable, pollution is produced that remains on the planet for many years.

Surname and nickname

It should not be overlooked that Botella is also a surname. One of the best-known figures with that surname is Ana Botella from Madrid ( 1953 ), who is the wife of José María Aznar , former president of Spain and who served as president of the Community of Madrid between 2011 and 2015 . Specifically, she became the first woman to hold that position.

It should also be noted that bottle is also the nickname of a historical figure. We are referring to the one who was called by the Spanish people as Pepe Botella : José I Bonaparte ( 17681844 ), older brother of Napoléon Bonaparte and who, in addition to being monarch of Napolés , was king of Spain between 1808 and 1813 .

In a derogatory way, Spanish citizens gave him that name supposedly because of the "hobby" he had for drinking. However, he was also known as Pepe Plazuelas .

"Message in a bottle"

Within the field of cinema, the term in question is also frequently used. A good example of this is the title of the film "Message in a Bottle" , which was released in 1999 under the direction of Luis Mandoki . It was based on a novel of the same title by Nicholas Sparks and starred actors Kevin Costner , Robin Wright and Paul Newman .

This film tells the story of a journalist who discovers a bottle on the beach with a message of love inside. That will make you try to do everything possible to find its author.
