Batrachian

Amphibian

Batracians are amphibious animals.

The etymological history of the term batrachian begins with the Greek word bátrachos , which translates as "frog" . Bátrachos became batrácheios : that which is typical of these animals . Then this concept reached scientific Latin as Batrachium and finally, in Spanish, it became batrachium .

A batrachian is an amphibian vertebrate animal that, at birth, is aquatic and breathes through gills , but later becomes terrestrial or semi-aquatic and begins to breathe through lungs . Another peculiarity of batrachians, like frogs and toads , is that their temperature is variable.

The body of the batrachians

Batracians are also called anurans because they do not have a tail. Their body is wide and short, presenting their hind legs with great development that allows them to jump easily.

On the body of a batrachian you can see a wide mouth that may lack teeth, ears without an external pavilion, and eyes with eyelids. Although it is common to differentiate between frogs and toads, the distinction is not supported by taxonomy . At a general level, species with great jumping and swimming abilities and that have smooth skin are called frogs. Toads, on the other hand, have rougher skin and lower agility.

Anuran

Frogs and toads are part of the group of batrachians.

Other information of interest

The diet of batrachians is usually based on terrestrial and aquatic vertebrate animals, although they can also eat small invertebrates. Regarding reproduction , finally, these species deposit their eggs in packets or cords in the water.

In addition to everything indicated, we can establish a relevant series of data of interest or curiosities about batrachians such as these:

-One of the most significant batrachians is the salamander.

-As a general rule, they are classified into two groups. On the one hand there are urodeles, such as the salamander or the newt, which have an elongated body, a long tail and four equal limbs. On the other hand, there are anurans, such as the aforementioned frogs and toads, which have a short and wide body as well as hind limbs much longer than the anterior ones.

-The majority of batrachians, if not all, are determined to be oviparous , with the exception of the salamander, which is ovoviviparous.

-It is considered that batracians were the first vertebrates to leave the water.

-Experts in this type of animals indicate that the most perfect eyes are those of the frog because they have enormous mobility and because they have two eyelids.

The Batracio band

In the same way, we cannot ignore the existence of a music group that also responds to the name of Batracio . It originates from Seville and its compositions are a perfect mix between rock, ska, reggae and even funk. And it is defined as fusion.

In 2015, this band was formed, which has among its best-known songs some such as “La Charca” , “Pulgadas” , “No Volveres” or “Yo no foolish tant” .
