This means that there are various types of dance that are part of one category or another, however, they have in common the cha cha chá, the pasodoble, the rumba or the tango, among others.

Within what would be social dancing, that of pure entertainment, there are also other dances such as the conga, the fox-trot, the merengue, rock and roll or swing. Meanwhile, on the competitive side we should also talk about salsa , the English waltz, quickstep or jive.

Various uses of the term

It is also important to highlight that there is an expression that we use very frequently and colloquially that uses the term in question. This is the adverbial phrase “Saint Vitus dance” that is used to express that someone has a convulsive illness or that a person is very restless and does not stop for a single moment, he is always doing things and moving.

In another sense, a dance is the mistaken alteration in the order of something (for example, a dance of letters) or repeated changes in the configuration of something or the positions that people occupy (official dance).

Finally, it should be noted that a dance is a fight or a violent altercation : “Last night there was dancing on the soccer field, the fans of both teams fought.”
